3D and Holography

2000-2005

Since childhood I have been fascinated by 3D movies, Viewmasters, and turn-of-the century stereoscopic viewers with cards. In the early 90’s I started collecting anything I came across at garage sales, thrift stores and flea markets.

Between 2000 & 2005 I turned to this form in earnest. I built my own cameras and equipment to create lenticulars and stereoscopic images. I made holograms with Photon League in Toronto and was commissioned to make a hologram by the Deaf Culture Centre as part of an installation of art and films by and about people with hearing loss.

I was fascinated by the artistic possibilities of 3D portraiture which ultimately proved unsustainable financially, but nonetheless creatively fulfilling and revealing.
